Do you put off completing tasks until later? You have set a #goal for yourself, let's say you are working on expanding your own #business, creating a law firm different from all the others. On the way to achieving this #goal, there are a dozen or so tasks that you know you need to do - otherwise, your desire will not be fulfilled. Some of these tasks are difficult. Perhaps uncomfortable, completing them requires going beyond your comfort zone. You don't like it, it's difficult for you. So you avoid.
You make excuses one by one. You'll do it later because now there's another "important" thing to do. First, you need to organize your background in order to get it right. Today you can't, because there is a pile of unpressed clothes waiting for you (as if it was going to run away tomorrow ...). You have a whole list of tasks, you do them meticulously, one by one disappears from the list ... almost! There's one thing, this uncomfortable that has been on your list for days, maybe weeks, and you're still procrastinating. You procrastinate, even though you are aware that failure to complete this #task will prevent you from reaching your great goal.
Each of us puts things off for later sometimes. This is normal. We are just humans. Did you know that such procrastination is habitual? This can lead to guilt and shame. In the long run, frustration appears, motivation to act decreases, productivity decreases. And as a consequence, it makes it difficult or, in the worst case, annihilating the achievement of the assumed goal.
Since procrastination is a habit, like any other habit, it can be changed. I don't say "eliminated" on purpose, because elimination leaves a gap, and these don't like to exist in human behavior. They are quickly replaced by other habitual activities. So let's replace a bad #habit with a good one.
I'll give you some tips.
First, get involved in the task! If you stay focused on "doing" rather than avoiding everything will be easier. Make a list. List any important matters that need to be addressed. Account for their implementation.
Secondly. Reformat your internal dialogue. Stop telling yourself that you "have to" something. Replace "I have to" with "I want to". Feel that this is what you want as it will lead you to your goal as a result. If you have an internal dialogue based on "I have to" it will mean that you have no choice. None of us likes being "slaves." Even if the oppressor were our own thoughts.
Thirdly. Minimize the number of distractions. Turn off the phone, stop scrolling FB, Insta. You have a job to do. Here and now. The answer on Messenger will wait!
Fourthly. The task is big? This is your Mount Everest? Build a camp along the way. Break the task into pieces. Reaching the milestones will keep your motivation going.
Fifth. Focus on the effects. Do you think the task is difficult or unpleasant? I see. So think about the satisfaction that awaits you at the end. Go! Think about the end result, the feeling of pride and happiness. About the fulfillment at the finish line!
Be #consistent and #persistent! #Successful people do the most difficult duties first! You can be successful! Yes, you!
